About

Camille Bertrand is a textile designer specializing in hand embroidery and textile printing. Trained in Paris (Duperré) and Lyon (ENSBA), she furthered her expertise through professional experiences and collaborations in France and abroad. From China to Germany, from the Cévennes to Cambodia, she learns firsthand with textile artisans.

In 2020, she settled in Morocco to establish a company aimed at showcasing the expertise of the embroiderers and weavers she collaborates with. Her time is divided between creation, exchanges with artisans, and sourcing raw materials found in Morocco and France.

Camille has been involved with various audiences to share and transmit the values and expertise of embroidery and natural dyeing.

Our values

Valuing the Gesture

The valorization of the gesture, transmitted from generation to generation, is essential in the creations of the workshop. Although patterns, materials and results change, the manufacturing method remains constant. Each craftsmen learns from one another the gestures to create and perpetuate a millennia-old heritage. The artisan, their expertise, and the resulting outcome are subjects that we highlight to ensure they endure and are passed on to future generations.

Promoting the Local Economy

Craftsmanship plays a central role in the Moroccan rural economy. Women’s weaving is a significant source of income. Wool sustains an entire economy in the valleys: from the shepherd selling the wool from his sheep to the spinner supplementing her income. This allows artisans to earn a decent living from their expertise and to receive genuine recognition from their community. We create, produce, and sell products crafted by humans for humans. It is essential to understand others, their ways of doing things and their way of life. We share the same values of respect and honesty.

Traceability, Ecological Process

Traceability and process ecology are essential in the textile industry, given its impact on the planet. From the choice of raw materials to the dyeing of fibers, all the way to production, no action is insignificant. We must question and master each step to limit its impact. We make available information on the origin of our materials, their transformation and production process, allowing everyone to understand the ins and outs.

The Woman at the Heart of the Project

Throughout these years of research and creation, women have always played a significant role. Their position is central within the villages and cooperatives. They are experts in their craft and in passing down their knowledge, they contribute to both their income and their social role in the community.

The artisan woman is at the heart of Brodeuse Voyageuse, participating in every step of the process.
